O’Halla brings nearly 30 years of health care experience to his new role. He joined McLaren in 2006 as president and CEO of McLaren Macomb, a 288-bed acute care hospital in Mount Clemens, Mich. Here, O’Halla was responsible for overall hospital strategy and operations.

“Under Mark’s leadership, McLaren Macomb returned to profitability after losing more than $70 million in the four years prior to his arrival,” said Phil Incarnati, president and CEO of McLaren Health Care. “During the past several years, McLaren Macomb has consistently been among McLaren’s top-performing entities. Equally important is the respect Mark has earned from the other members of the McLaren management team. He understands our company’s culture, and his dedication and work ethic exemplify our mission of delivering the best value in health care as defined by quality outcomes and cost.”

As president and CEO of McLaren Macomb, O’Halla had an integral role in making many leading-edge health care treatments and technologies available to Macomb County residents. A search is in progress for his successor.

“Mark has done an exceptional job leading McLaren Macomb,” said Ted B. Wahby, chairman of the McLaren Macomb board of trustees. “He helped secure many health care advances for our community and has made significant contributions to the growth and success of our hospital and physician network in Macomb County. He will be missed, but we are happy he is staying within the McLaren family.”

Before working at McLaren Macomb, O’Halla served as CEO at St. Mary’s Hospital, a 251-bed facility located in Streator, Ill. Prior to this, he spent seven years as chief operating officer at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic in Clifton Springs, N.Y., as well as four years as chief financial officer at Myers Community Hospital in Sodus, N.Y.

“I’m extremely pleased about this new opportunity,” said O’Halla. “McLaren Health Care has a focus on innovation and clinical quality that will continue to impact patients throughout the state of Michigan. The implementation of initiatives like proton beam therapy, the TAVR cardiac procedure and MAKOplasty robotic orthopedic procedures are indicative of the forward-thinking strategy that leads our organization. I’m excited to play a part in McLaren’s continued growth.”

O’Halla earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Rochester and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Toledo. He serves as chair to the Southeast Michigan American Heart Association board of directors and is involved in many community and philanthropic initiatives.
